On June 23, a conference on current issues of child development was held at the Batumi Republican Clinical Hospital.
The issue, which is of common interest to the healthcare system and the education sector, has become relevant due to real needs. Recently, the health of adolescents has been adversely affected by the increasing influence of factors such as physical inactivity in schools, mental overload, excessive screen time, unhealthy nutrition and other environmental factors.
The conference participants were addressed by: First Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of Ajara, Mari Zanakidze, Director of the Batumi Republican Clinical Hospital, Mr. Solon Putkaradze, and Head of the Scientific Department of the hospital, Mr. Ilia Nakashidze.
The conference was also attended by Deputy Ministers of Health and Social Protection of Ajara,
Lela Surmknidze and Ilia Verdzadze.
One of the initiators of the conference was a primary care physician, Doctor of Public Health Medicine at Tbilisi Ivane Javakhishvili State University, Ms. Gulnara Abashidze, who presented the topic “Implementation of a Healthy Lifestyle in the Educational Environment”. The pediatricians, family doctors, psychiatrists, gastroenterologists and pediatric dentists participating in the conference presented reports on the following topics: health problems characteristic of childhood, autism spectrum disorders and support mechanisms, healthy nutrition as the basis for proper oral development, seasonal trends in the spread of gastroenteritis in children, the importance of oral hygiene and others, discussed the development of a conceptual framework and prevention methods for establishing a healthy lifestyle in adolescents.
